Jeremiah 51: Retribution against Babylon

Jeremiah 52: Jerusalem Destroyed

This chapter deals with the realistic defeat of Judah. In other words, it refers to the fall of Jerusalem. God's judgment gradually spreads throughout the Jewish community, starting with the situation in which Zedekiah, the representative of the Jewish people, is taken captive. The first half of this chapter describes the situation just before Judah's fall (verses 1-9), the middle part depicts Judah being defeated by Babylon (verses 10-27), the number of people taken captive by Babylon, and the number of people taken captive by Babylon. It consists of the second half (questions 28-34) that reveals Israel's future hopes.​
