Luke 5: Jesus Reveals Himself

[Summary]

After Jesus taught the gospel by the Lake of Gennesaret, he told Peter, James, and John that he would make them his disciples and make them fishers of men (verses 1-12). While Jesus was in a certain town, he healed a man who had leprosy all over his body (verses 13-15). One day, so many people were gathered in front of the house where Jesus was staying that he could not enter, but the people who were carrying the paralyzed man came up with a trick and lowered him down on his bed by removing the tiles from the roof. Jesus saw his faith and forgave his sins and healed him (verses 16-26). After that, as Jesus was walking, he saw Levi, a tax collector, at the customs office and made him his disciple (verses 27-39).

Luke 6: Jesus' Teachings

[Summary]

When Jesus was walking through the grainfields on the Sabbath, the Pharisees saw his disciples picking heads of grain and eating them, and condemned them for breaking the Sabbath, but Jesus clearly declared that the Son of Man is the Lord of the Sabbath (vv. 1-5). On another Sabbath, Jesus healed a man in the synagogue, and the Pharisees condemned him for breaking the Sabbath, but Jesus said that it was right to do good on the Sabbath (vv. 6-11). After Jesus went up on a mountain to pray, he appointed twelve disciples (vv. 12-19). After that, he stood on a plain and taught them various teachings (vv. 20-49).
