Day 304 Reading Schedule: Luke 19~20 Luke 19: The Lord Enters Jerusalem [Summary] Jesus entered Jericho and met Zacchaeus, who had climbed a sycamore tree, and proclaimed the good news of salvation (verses 1-10). Then Jesus told the crowd the parable of the ten minas (verses 11-27). When Jesus arrived at Bethany, he sent two of his disciples to bring him a colt that no one had ridden. He rode the colt and entered Jerusalem, and many crowds cheered and sang Hosanna. After his entry, he caused the temple to be purified and taught in the temple every day (verses 28-48).
Luke 20: Jewish Leaders Test Christ [Summary] When Jesus was teaching in the temple, the chief priests and scribes brought up the issue of authority and argued with him fiercely (vv. 1-8). Jesus ended the discussion by telling the parable of the vineyard (vv. 9-18). The chief priests and scribes again tried to trap Jesus by asking him about the issue of paying taxes to Caesar (vv. 19-26) and the issue of the resurrection related to the taxation system (vv. 27-40), but their efforts were in vain as Jesus answered them wisely. Now when Jespus asked the chief priests and scribes why David called Christ Lord, no one could answer (vv. 41-47). |
